Macon Touchdown Club Middle Georgia Kickoff Classic 2023 Results

Well, Year Number 8 is in the books. If you missed it, you missed two great games.

It was a little warm, like most August days in Macon. But, the weather was absolutely beautiful all day.

In Game One, Northside (WR) came from behind in the second half to get a win.
Northside (WR) 33  Jones County 21
In Game Two, it was tight all the way, but Mary Persons pulled out the win in the Fourth Quarter.
Mary Persons 20  Northeast 14
If you missed the games, and would like to watch them, here are links to DSBN Sports. Russell Deese Live Streamed both games for us.
Game One – Jones County vs Northside (WR)
Game Two – Northeast vs Mary Persons
To all the Volunteers that spent the day with us, you are very much appreciated. We could not put on this event without you.
A big Thank You to Johnny Crawford and King Kemper. Johnny handles all of the funding raising by lining up sponsors for the game, and lining up the game officials. King lines up our Volunteers and makes sure that we have people in all of the areas during the day. Also, King is the “Pizza Guy” that makes sure that the pizzas arrive in the locker rooms for the players at the end of their games.
I am honored to be a part of the Macon Touchdown Club, and its Members.
Now it is time to get ready for September 11th, our first meeting of the year.

Special Recognition

Coach Greg Moore – FPD

Coach Moore, along with Coach Barney Hester brought the idea of playing a double header of high school football games at Mercer University. On August 19th, The Macon Touchdown Club Middle Georgia Kickoff Classic will be in it’s eight year.
Coach Greg Moore has completed his 34th year at FPD and will remain as the Vikings’ Athletic Director (AD) and Head Baseball Coach.
“Greg Moore epitomizes everything an FPD Coach should be and has been a staple in our football program for 23 seasons,” said Dr. John Patterson, head of school at FPD.
“In a world that encourages coaches to move to the next big thing, that kind of commitment to one school is inspiring and should be the standard,” Patterson said. “Greg is a man of courageous faith and has impacted the lives of hundreds of young people by representing the character of Christ. While I am sorry to see him depart from football, I am excited for this new stage where he can lead and teach our younger coaches to have that same influence for Christ.
”With an impressive 163-110 overall record as the Vikings’ gridiron leader for 23 seasons, Moore has captured six Region Championships, two State semi-final appearances and three State Championship appearances. He also accomplished multiple playoff runs over the years in the GISA and the GHSA. Moore was selected as the Region Coach of the Year six times, and he was the Macon Touchdown Club’s Marvin Davis Coach of the Year twice, most recently in 2021. He stands in the unique class of having been at the same school for 34 years, and he says he is not finished.
